“As the father of a social worker, I know that this profession is more than what you do—it’s who you are,” wrote President Joe Biden in a March 1 letter to NASW that recognizes Social Work Month and thanks social work professionals.

“Social workers are an essential part of our workforce,” he continued. “…. [S]ocial workers are always there for us when we need them. As President, I am committed to empowering our Nation’s social workers and providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.”

“… This month and every month, we thank our social workers for their incredible service to our communities,” Biden concluded, calling them “heroes” who “embody the very best of who we are as Americans” and a key reason why “I have never been more optimistic about the future of this great Nation.”
