Sponsorship Spotlight: Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) The Center for Adoption Support and Education (C.A.S.E.) is a national leader in adoption-competent mental health services, professional training, and resources for families and professionals. Since 1998, C.A.S.E. has worked to ensure that adoptive, foster, and kinship families receive the support they need to thrive, offering specialized counseling, education, and advocacy.

One of the key ways C.A.S.E. supports families is through its adoption-competent mental health services. Many adoptive and foster families face unique emotional and relational challenges that require specialized care. C.A.S.E. offers in-person and teletherapy, case management, and support groups designed to meet these specific needs. With a team of highly trained clinicians, C.A.S.E. helps families navigate complex emotions, strengthen attachment, and address trauma in a supportive environment.

In addition to direct services, C.A.S.E. is deeply committed to equipping social workers and mental health professionals with the tools they need to provide effective adoption-competent care. The Training for Adoption Competency (TAC) program is a nationally recognized certificate program that combines classroom instruction with case consultations, allowing professionals to apply their learning to real-world scenarios. This program ensures that social workers are well-prepared to support families throughout the adoption journey.

To expand access to these vital services, C.A.S.E. has taken on leadership roles in both national and regional initiatives. The National Center for Adoption Competent Mental Health Services, established through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is working to increase the availability of adoption-competent care across the country. At the state level, C.A.S.E. leads the Northern Post Adoption Consortium (NPAC) in Virginia, providing free post-adoption support to families in partnership with other organizations.

Education is another key focus of C.A.S.E., and the organization offers free monthly webinars in collaboration with the Jockey Being Family Foundation. These webinars address critical topics for both professionals and caregivers, providing ongoing learning opportunities to enhance adoption and foster care practice.

For social workers looking to strengthen their adoption-competent practice or connect families with specialized support, C.A.S.E. offers an invaluable resource. More information about counseling services, professional training, and educational programs can be found at adoptionsupport.org.
