Welcome to the main information page for the 2025 On-Demand Annual Conference (79.5 CEs) of the Virginia and Metro DC chapters of the National Association of Social Workers!

Register now for 35 exciting workshops, five keynote sessions, a film screening and discussion, a Virtual Exhibitor Fair, and more—all of which run from now until June 30 and offer a chance for you to earn your required CEs. No need to worry about whether you can get into a session room—you can access every opportunity to learn and shape your own professional development whenever and wherever you want, including sessions that earn you CEs in ethics (DC/VA, 22.25), LGBTQIA2S+ (DC, 5.25), and Public Health Priorities (DC, 6 CEs).

The advanced and foundational learning lineup ranges from trauma to ethics, artificial intelligence to new techniques, social justice updates to emerging and expressive therapies. Not sure? Your peers would tell you to go for it:

“I left the conference energized and reconnected to social values."

Skim the diverse AGENDA of 35 sessions and five general keynote sessions here!

BONUS: On May 21 from noon to 1 p.m. ET, NASW members can enjoy a free live-virtual musical lecture by Grammy-nominated keynoter and PBS rock star Pierce Freelon. You’ll earn one free CE while learning about “Words into Worlds,” an approach to fostering dialogue across differences to address harm with healing. According to Pierce, it starts with our words—our affirmations and intentions can help us manifest a new reality for ourselves and our communities. Enjoy this surprising and motivational lecture with an Emmy Award-winning PBS web-series creator and innovative composer, nonprofit founder, and even freeze-dried ice cream entrepreneur. Email professionaldevelopment.naswva@socialworkers.org for the link. This live learning sampler is for NASW members only, but anyone who registers for the On-Demand Conference will have access to a recording of this keynote, too.

To the more than 350 social workers who attended our March 13-15 and May 1-3 In-Person and Live-Virtual Annual Conferences, THANK YOU! The feedback we’ve received to date has been tremendously positive, and we invite you to consider upgrading your registration to add the On-Demand Conference access so you can view every session and keynote you may have missed (and earn up to 79.5 CEs total!). This also gives you time to download more session handouts and to visit the Virtual Exhibitor Fair of nearly two dozen companies, agencies, organizations, and others who serve the social work profession and/or are hiring.

WHAT YOUR PEERS SAID ABOUT THE CONFERENCES

  • “Always a fun time, interesting and unique keynotes, great ways to connect with other social workers!”

  • “Great conference--I enjoyed every minute. Because I work from home, I am isolated, but the conference is an excellent way to reengage and get updated on what's going on.”

  • “My networking exposure was great. This was important to me since I work in a suburban and minimally diverse area.”

  • “Attending a conference that is for and about social work is a great reminder for all of us about what the field is truly meant for. As social workers we often work independently for a variety of reasons, and being around our peers who are like minded can reinforce the reason we came into the field in the first place.”

  • “I participated in discussions, created art, networked with others, and rekindled friendships--what a great way to reflect on National Social Work Month. I always feel rejuvenated after attending the conference. I came back to work with more resources from the exhibitors and workshop speakers.”

  • “I’m in private practice and don’t work with other social workers, so it means a lot to gather with other social workers at the conference every year.”

  • “I was able to learn, network, and earn CE credits in an effective manner.”

  • “Attendees were friendly and welcoming--it was my first Virginia Chapter event!”

  • “This was an excellent conference. The speakers were great, and topics were relevant to contemporary clinical social work practice.”

  • “This year's NASW Virginia and Metro DC Chapters Annual Conference was an absolutely amazing experience. I attended so many wonderful breakout sessions and brought home a wealth of knowledge."

  • "It was such a great experience, I paid additionally for the ‘on demand’ portion so I could obtain access to the remaining sessions I was unable to attend in-person. It was just that good! I also was able to meet and connect with some amazing people at this conference. I look forward to attending next year!”
