NASW and the Virginia Chapter will oppose any decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe vs. Wade and eliminate access to essential reproductive health care. Read the full NASW statement and review our resources at bit.ly/3ybaJ2g.
“Reproductive choice is at the heart of all women’s healthcare, and no woman should be forced by law to experience the risks and outcomes of full pregnancy,” says NASWVA Executive Director Debra Riggs, CAE. “With an anti-choice governor and a determined vocal minority, Virginia is dangerously poised to become another trigger state that would deny women basic control over their own bodies. As social workers, we are pledged to our NASW Code of Ethics, which clearly supports self-determination in all life choices. We must—and we will—fight harder than ever to protect reproductive rights.”
