NASW and NASW Virginia continue to strongly oppose legislation in multiple states intended to restrict the freedoms and human rights of LGBTQ+ people. In particular, the Florida Parental Rights in Education bill, commonly called the “Don't Say Gay” bill, “is a politically motivated, shameful attack that will harm the mental health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals and students,” notes an NASW statement. The organization will continue to advocate for the civil liberties and human rights of LGBTQ+ individuals and communities.
