Happy Social Work Month to all Virginia Social Workers!
The NASW Virginia Chapter wishes each Virginia social worker a special Social Work Month thank-you in recognition of your hard work, commitment, and expertise in our profession. The pandemic has shown in no uncertain terms how 2022 is "The Right Time for Social Work," the theme for this year.
"I'm always so happy when the calendar flips to March, so we can amplify our applause of the many achievements of our modest members," says Executive Director Debra Riggs, CAE. "Social workers by nature are frequently discreet, hard-working professionals who are too-often overlooked when people think to thank critical health providers. As the largest group of behavioral professionals in the country, as well as in Virginia, social workers deserve to be recognized through higher pay, better benefits, and greater public recognition. They are indeed 'essential,' and March is a wonderful time to pump up the volume on that!"
Look for celebratory posts on social media throughout the month, as well as an inspirational presentation by Riggs at the 2022 Annual Conference March 24-26, held jointly with the NASW Metro DC Chapter. Register at bit.ly/2022ConfRegistrationPage or skim the 30-session agenda at bit.ly/2022ConferenceAgenda. All attendees also are invited to a coffee chat with Riggs Friday, March 25 as another time to toast each other.
